In the end of the story the one unexpected character of the story creates the retribution by going to Virgle Byrnes house and confronting him orally and ten physically, Eric's mother's boy friend Carver. After Eric discovers that Sarah's dad really did burn her face he has a lot of anger festering in him and all he thinks of is how much it would have hurt Sarah when it all happen and how much he wants revenge on Mr.Byrnes. Every day Sarah has to walk around with people being scared of her because of how burned her face is and it makes is very hard for her to make friends. Examples are the pain Sarah goes through from how her face looks, the retribution Eric wants on Sarah's dad and the pain inflicted on Virgl Byrnes by Carver in the end of the book. Dale starts to talk about hoe he thinks they should do a entry on this kid named Elgin Greene who smells really bad. In chapter 6 Dale, Sarah and Eric are at Eric's house thinking of something more to put into crispy pork rinds. Dale Thortan had him self a secret to tell as well. But Sarah wasn't the only one who had a dark secret. Back then everyone believed it and just left it at that. Sarah tells everyone in middle school her face got burned when she was a little girl when she pulled a pot of spaghetti on her self from the stove top.
